Dr. Sabrina Thomas recently spoke at the Truman Institute Civil Rights Symposium in Washington D.C., during the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the signing of Executive Order 9981. Signed by President Harry S. Truman in 1948, this executive order integrated the U.S. Military with the intention of ensuring "there shall be equality of treatment and opportunity for all persons in the armed services without regard to race, color, religion or national origin."
