Center for Early Head Start

The Texas Tech University Center for Early Head Start (TTU CEHS) is under the auspices of the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences (HDFS) of the College of Human Sciences.

TTU CEHS has an Executive Director who is a faculty member in HDFS and a Program Director with an advanced degree. Along with overseeing all components of the center's daily operation, the Director teaches laboratory seminars and coordinates lab experiences for college students. Program support staff also include a Fiscal and ERSEA Manager, a Family and Health Manager, an Education and Disabilities Manager, as well as a Program Quality Specialist and a Program Support Specialist.

All classrooms contain eight children and are staffed by two full-time teachers. Each lead teacher has a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, while each Assistant Teacher has an Associate Degree or a national Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Teachers nurture children's cognitive, social, emotional, and language development using the HighScope curriculum while demonstrating developmentally appropriate practice to the University students.
