The Mission of the Texas Tech University Outdoor Learning Center is to inspire students and teachers to develop passion, a sense of ownership and identity towards nature and the world in which they live, while building better classroom environments.

About the Outdoor Learning Center
The Junction Outdoor Learning Center is an extension of the classroom. We offer field trips and an educational experience that is hands-on in the great outdoors. The education units taught are aligned with Texas Essential Knowlege and Skills (TEKS).

Come visit the Center at Junction and let your students be a part of a hands-on education experience like no other! Our teachers work with you to design a curriculum to fit your needs. Come visit for a day excursion or stay at the center for a week filled with integrated science curriculum.

The Outdoor Learning Center provides a learning experience for the student as well as staff development for the classroom teacher. Working together, outdoor instructors and classroom teachers can provide students with an outstanding education that they will remember for a lifetime. The Outdoor Learning Center is a priceless experience for every student and teacher.

About the Center
The facilities at the TTU Center at Junction includes traditional classrooms, outdoor classrooms, high-speed internet and WIFI, wet laboratory, large lecture/dining facilities, conference room, pool, covered pavilion, and laundry facilities. The facility also has bird and wildlife observation blinds, hiking trails and 1 mile of South Llano River frontage.

Texas Tech University Junction Outdoor Learning Center is hosting “Science in the
Sun”, a fun, hands-on learning Science Enrichment Camp.
Students who have completed 2nd through 5th grade are invited to register and join us at the Texas Tech University Llano River Field Station, June 12 – 15, 2023, from 8am – 12noon.

Formal and Informal Educators are invited to register and join us at the Texas Tech University Llano River Field Station, June 26 - 28, 2023.
Three-day workshop for formal and informal educators. Our focus will be exploring land stewardship and natural resources conservation topics, developing educational strategies, and experiencing outdoor learning philosophies.
This workshop is open to any K-12 teacher, informal outdoor educator, or volunteers who are looking to bring their passion for conservation to young learners.
