Military Experience & College Credit

Military education, training and service experience may qualify for college credit at Texas Tech University. Students should submit the appropriate official military records so eligible coursework and training can be reviewed for transfer credit.

The Office of the Registrar's Transfer Evaluation Office evaluates transferable credit. A student's academic college determines how awarded credit may apply toward specific degree requirements.

Military Transcripts

Students seeking evaluation of military education and training should submit the appropriate official military transcript or record.

How Military Credit Is Evaluated

Military education and training are reviewed using official records and applicable Texas Tech transfer-credit policies. Students may be asked to provide additional documentation when needed to complete an evaluation.

Documentation may include:

• Official military transcripts
• DD Form 214, when applicable
• Certificates or records describing military courses or training
• Official transcripts from colleges or universities previously attended

Approved credit may be added to the student's Texas Tech academic record. The academic college determines how that credit applies toward major, minor, core curriculum or other degree requirements.

College Credit for Heroes

College Credit for Heroes is a Texas initiative designed to help veterans and service members receive appropriate college credit for military education and training.

Military credit is reviewed through Texas Tech's established transfer-credit process. How awarded credit applies to a student's degree depends on the academic program and college.
