Stoles & Recognition

 

Military & Veteran Programs recognizes graduating Texas Tech veterans, service members and eligible military family members through its graduation stole and recognition program. Veterans and service members may receive a special camo-tipped stole, while eligible family members receive a recognition cord.

Fall 2026 Stole & Recognition Ceremony

Thursday, Dec. 10, 2026
Check-in: 1:30 p.m.
Ceremony: 2-4 p.m.

Graduating veterans, service members and eligible family members are invited to participate in the ceremony. Guests are welcome, and refreshments will be provided following the event.

RSVP

The Fall 2026 RSVP opens Nov. 9 at noon and closes Dec. 7 at 12:15 p.m.

Parking

Free parking is available in the museum parking lot on the west side of the building near Fourth Street and Indiana Avenue.

What to Wear

Business or business-casual attire is appropriate. Graduates may wear commencement regalia if they wish.

Recognition Photos

Graduating veterans and service members will be photographed as stoles are presented. Graduating family members will be photographed as their recognition is presented, and group photos will be taken at the conclusion of the ceremony.

Graduate Eligibility

Veterans & Service Members

Graduating Texas Tech veterans and service members may receive a camo-tipped stole through Military & Veteran Programs.

If you are not already identified by MVP as a graduating veteran or service member, you must provide documentation of military service no later than 11 a.m. the day before the ceremony.

Acceptable documentation may include:

  • DD Form 214 Member 4
  • Current military identification
  • Current military orders, when applicable

Military Family Members

Eligible graduating family members may receive a recognition cord.

If you are not already identified through MVP records, documentation must establish both your relationship to the veteran or service member and the veteran or service member's military status.

Documentation may include:

  • Birth certificate
  • Marriage license
  • Court-approved documentation
  • DD Form 214 Member 4
  • Current military identification or orders

Unable to Attend?

Students who cannot attend the Fall 2026 ceremony may pick up their stole or recognition cord Friday, Dec. 11, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

Stoles for Alumni, Faculty & Staff

Military & Veteran Programs began awarding camo stoles in spring 2011. Eligible Texas Tech alumni, faculty and staff who are veterans, active-duty service members or members of the Reserves or National Guard may purchase a stole.

Funds raised through stole sales benefit MVP veteran and family member scholarship funds.

Eligibility

Eligible purchasers include:

  • Texas Tech alumni who are veterans, active-duty service members or members of the Reserves or National Guard
  • Current Texas Tech faculty and staff who meet the same military-service criteria
  • Eligible faculty and staff who are not Texas Tech alumni

Military & Veteran Stole Policy

Cost

  • Eligible Texas Tech graduates: $75
  • Texas Tech faculty and staff alumni: $75
  • Texas Tech faculty and staff who are not Texas Tech alumni: $100

How to Purchase a Stole

Please contact MVP to purchase a stole. 

Payment

Cash, check and credit card payments are accepted. Checks should be made payable to the Texas Tech Foundation.
