Curriculum Vita
Austin McCrea is an Assistant Professor of Public Administration in the Department
of Political Science at Texas Tech University. Austin graduated with a Ph.D. in Public
Administration and Policy from American University in May 2021. His research examines
questions of racial and gender representation in highrisk, time-critical public service
contexts such as emergency departments, nursing homes, and hospitals. In particular,
his current research agenda uses the lens of street-level bureaucracy to study how
organizational factors influence physician behavior and discretion. Austin's work
can be found in Administration & Society, International Public Management Journal, Journal of Public
Administration Research and Theory, Political Research Quarterly, Public Administration, and Public Administration Review.
