Requirements for Political Science Graduate Program Application
Please take a look at our website by following the link here.
Applicants who plan to pursue a Ph.D. degree should choose the M.A./Ph.D. program which is equivalent to the Ph.D. degree program in terms of coursework and degree requirements.
An M.A. or an M.A./Ph.D. application will also serve as the application for the department financial aid.
The steps you need to take in order to complete the admissions process are listed below:
- Complete Graduate School application – link here.
- Submit official transcripts to the Graduate School (this will include the transcript indicating your earned bachelors degree and any transfer work you would like considered) – if you are a current TTU undergraduate student about to graduate you will have to request an official copy of your transcript once your degree has posted.
- Submit your 3 letters of recommendation letters – these requests are part of the application. You will supply the graduate school the names and contact information of your letter writers and a request will be sent directly to them.
- Submit your resume/CV
- Submit your Statement of Purpose
- Submit your Writing Sample
- Submit your GRE scores (This requirement is waived this year, but you are welcome to submit your score for further consideration)
- Submit your English proficiency scores. See the following page for more details. (https://www.depts.ttu.edu/gradschool/admissions/InternationalProspectiveStudents.php)
- Due to the processing time, there is a delay from the time you apply to the time the information is sent to the department. All of the information you provide may not be available to the department as soon as you apply.
- Keep in mind these documents should be uploaded to the application portal.
- You can receive acceptance into the department prior to your acceptance into the graduate school. You MUST be accepted into both the program and graduate school before you can begin enrolling in courses at Texas Tech.
- The Political Science department does not control the application portal so any issues will need to be reported to the graduate school: graduate.admissions@ttu.edu. Make sure to include all pertinent information, name, program, and your applicant ID.
Once your documentation has been submitted, your credentials will be reviewed by the admissions committee should you choose to apply.
