Maggie J. Gilchrest is the Director of the Louis Stokes Alliances for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Program at TTU and assists Dr. Spott with STEM CORE's day-to-day operations.

As the Director of TTU LSAMP, Maggie serves as one of the university's representatives to the Bridges Across Texas (BAT) LSAMP Program. In her role, she manages the TTU LSAMP Scholars, mentors, and tutors who engage in meaningful interactions with under-represented and/or minoritized transfer students from Dallas College – El Centro, South Plains College, and Texas Southmost College, and further undergraduate research. As a First-Generation Hispanic college student, Maggie is passionate about helping students from under-represented populations utilize programs like LSAMP to engage in undergraduate research and prepare for graduate school.

Maggie is an International Federation of Coaching (ICF) certified life coach, focused on facilitating the self-reflection, growth, and success of LSAMP students. Facilitating campus knowledge of resources and academic development starts at different times for every student and Maggie prides herself on being able to meet students where they are to aid in their development. She creates relationships that simultaneously encourage and empower STEM students.

Maggie is the current chair of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA) Coaching Community, a member of the Convocations Committee, and a former Staff Senate President.

In her spare time, Maggie enjoys hanging out with family, friends, and three dogs, live music, watching sports, and reading.
