The Texas Tech University Student Handbook and Code of Student Conduct establish expectations for student behavior and the policies and procedures used to address alleged violations. Common Conduct Violations

Student conduct concerns may involve academic or nonacademic behavior. The Code of Student Conduct provides the complete definitions and requirements for each violation.

Academic Misconduct

Academic misconduct includes acts or attempted acts intended to provide an unfair academic advantage to a student or another student. Concerns may include cheating, plagiarism, collusion, fabrication or falsification, misrepresentation and other conduct prohibited by the Code of Student Conduct.

Actions Against Members of the University Community

Conduct involving other members of the university community may be addressed through the student conduct process when the behavior violates standards established in the Code of Student Conduct.

Alcohol

Students are responsible for complying with university policies and applicable laws concerning alcoholic beverages. The Code of Student Conduct identifies prohibited alcohol-related behavior and circumstances in which students or student organizations may be subject to the conduct process.

Drugs

The Code of Student Conduct establishes university standards concerning the possession, use, manufacture, distribution or other prohibited activity involving drugs or controlled substances.

Theft, Damage & Unauthorized Use

Conduct involving theft, attempted theft, damage, misuse or unauthorized possession or use of university or personal property may constitute a violation of the Code of Student Conduct.

Sanctions & Outcomes

When a student is found responsible for violating the Code of Student Conduct, the university may assign disciplinary sanctions, conditions or restrictions. Outcomes are determined through the student conduct process and may vary based on the nature and circumstances of the violation, a student's conduct history and other relevant information.

Student Organizations

Registered student organizations and their members are expected to follow university policies and the standards established in the Code of Student Conduct. Student organizations may be subject to the student conduct process when alleged misconduct is connected to organization activities or operations.

Questions about a possible student organization conduct violation may be directed to the Office of Student Conduct or reported through Raiders Report.

Reporting Concerns

Raiders Report provides the university's central location for submitting reports and connecting concerns with the appropriate university office.

General Student Conduct reports may be submitted when a student may have violated the Code of Student Conduct. Academic integrity concerns and student organization misconduct can also be reported through the appropriate Raiders Report form.
