Meet Lilie

Hey yall! My name is Lilie, and I am a transfer student here at Tech. A few weird and fun facts about me, I am definitely a hippie, I love coffee shop vibes, and I implemented a recycling system in my own apartment for me and my roommates. In my free time, I love baking, weightlifting, and going to church. I am also a huge foodie and make it a priority to find the best cafes, farmers markets, and restaurants anywhere I am living. That means I know the best places to study and chill in Lubbock, so ask me about it! Regarding my educational experiences, I transferred to Tech from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and fell in love with the atmosphere and culture. I admire that everyone in Lubbock supports Tech and invites Tech students to their businesses. Additionally, Tech has numerous opportunities for social involvement, leadership development, and academic growth. I am currently pursuing a career in the medical field, specifically in oncology as a physician and clinical researcher. I have always been interested in cancer studies due to my passion for science and because of its high prevalence in society.

I have been blessed to be a part of such great programs here at Tech through my peer mentor position, transfer connection, and various organizations. I am involved in three clubs, Dr. Bernard Harris Pre-Medical Society, the Masked Bakers, and Transfer Techsans. I completed TLI in Fall 2022 and am now a mentor for the program. Additionally, I am involved in undergraduate research with the Gorden group. Lastly, I am so happy I get to be a member of a small group through Chi Alpha, an on-campus ministry at Tech.

If I could go back in time and talk to myself on my first day at TTU, I would tell myself to get out of my comfort zone and get more involved, because you cannot make friends and fully develop yourself when you stay home all the time.
