Javier's Virtual Visit

Javier is a Texas Tech Student that has had a runny nose and stomach ache. The weather is very cold and Javier does not have his own vehicle to drive to Student Health Services. Javier decides to access healthcare by a Virtual Visit in the comfort of his dorm.

Javier's AHP insurance plan includes a Virtual Visit option! It is called Teladoc. Javier decides to access the Teladoc system through an app on his smart phone.

Javier spends a few minutes registering for the Teladoc service. Since Teladoc is an in-network provider, Javier has to pay the $50 copayment in order to speak with a doctor.

After waiting for just a few minutes, Javier is speaking with a health care professional that will evaluate, diagnose and treat him from a distance! Javier loves technology!

Javier's doctor decides to prescribe him an antibiotic. Javier asks the doctor to send the prescription to the Student Health Services Pharmacy. Javier also requests a generic drug in order to save more money. The next morning, Javier has a friend take him to the Student Health Pharmacy. Since Javier requested a generic drug, his copayment is only $15.  

Javier is on his way to feeling better and will soon be ready to play soccer again!
