Admissions Student Assistant

This position will assist in various recruitment efforts through freshman and transfer admissions, as well as the operational side. You will assist the different managers and admissions counselors with their recruitment efforts, through data entry, phone calls, reports, and organizational tasks.

College Recruiter

The College Recruiter works to provide prospective students and families with information about the academic college and programs they represent. The College Recruiter is expected to meet with prospective students and families interested in their field of study during the twice daily Academic Information Sessions. The College Recruiter is also expected to be present at on-campus recruitment events. The College Recruiter works closely with the academic college and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to ensure that correct information is given to prospective students and families.

Marketing Student Assistant

Under supervision of the marketing staff, the Marketing Student Assistant works to provide the Office of Undergraduate Admissions with social media content, digital analytics, marketing materials, web content maintenance, data entry and market research. Occasional duties include giving campus tours and assisting with on-campus events. The Marketing Student Assistant is creative, possesses strong communication skills, and is experienced with Adobe Creative Cloud.

Paid Tour Guide

The Paid Tour Guide leads tours of our campus for prospective students and families that provide accurate and pertinent information about Texas Tech. The Paid Tour Guide conducts multiple campus tours throughout the week to help accommodate visitors to campus. The Paid Tour Guide will greet guests to West Hall, assist with regularly scheduled daily campus visits, and assist the Visitors Center staff in preparing for on-campus recruitment events. The Paid Tour Guide is energetic, comfortable in front of crowds, a great public speaker, and willing to contribute to the Visitors Center in whatever ways they are needed.

Processing Student Assistant

Primary responsibilities include assisting potential students and their families by phone and email while processing, scanning, and indexing incoming admissions documents. Strong communication, multi-tasking, and attention to detail are critical for this position. All shifts fall between 8am and 5pm Monday-Friday, with no night or weekend work required. Students can work a maximum of 20 hours per week, with opportunities for more hours when available during summer terms. Students must work a minimum of 15 hours per week but 20 is strongly preferred.

Student Telecounselor

Student Telecounselors assist the Office of Undergraduate Admissions in recruiting freshmen and transfer students. The program consists of a group of current students who call and email prospective students. The Student Telecounseling staff is trained on sharing their experiences as Texas Tech students and answering questions concerning the university and the Lubbock community. The staff is required to work 12-20 hours a week. The program operates on Sundays through Thursday in the evenings.

Visitors Center Student Assistant

The Visitors Center Student Assistant is a critical part of the Visitors Center staff. The student is expected to provide excellent customer service to our visitors. The Student Assistant is responsible for greeting guests to West Hall, providing guidance and directions for visitors, assisting with regularly scheduled daily campus visits, answering the Visitors Center phone, providing accurate and up-to-date information to callers and visitors, and assisting the Visitors Center team with on-campus recruitment events. The Student Assistant is courteous, helpful, polite, energetic, and willing to contribute to the Visitors Center in whatever ways they are needed.

Undergraduate Admissions Internship Program

The internship program is designed to provide an educational and professional overview of the recruitment and admissions process of prospective students wanting to enroll to Texas Tech University. The program consists of rotating through seven different departments that vary from recruitment, marketing, event planning, strategy development and professional development. The internship program is focused in developing students that are interested in careers related to higher education, business, communication, and human sciences. The internship program is open to all majors with a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA. Applicants interested in the internship program should email carlos.favela@ttu.edu for more information.
