The Campus Visit – one of the most important things prospective students do as they search for the best place to pursue their education. Colleges and universities spend thousands of dollars on glossy brochures to lure student’s interest, but there is only one way to see the true colors of the campus. Students must see it for themselves.

Know someone who's thinking about coming to Texas Tech? Send them this primer on "The Campus Visit."

The Visitors Center at Texas Tech University welcomes thousands of prospective students, friends and alumni throughout the year. We invite you to come see the place where great things happen. Once you see the campus, you’ll understand why so many students feel immediately at home and why alumni have such fond memories.

The Visitors Center offers student-guided walking tours of the campus and can arrange for prospective students to meet with the academic department in which they are interested or an admissions counselor.

Each fall and spring, we host special University Days for prospective students and their families featuring academic information sessions, campus and residence hall tours, student service and organization fairs and an introduction to Texas Tech’s spirit and traditions.

Specially designed presentations, highlighting information about admissions, scholarships and application deadlines are available for first-time freshman and transfer students.

More Tips
  • Weekends, holidays and summers may not be the best times to visit.  Offices may be closed and tours may not be offered if classes are not in session.  Students should visit when they can get a realistic feel for the campus – meet students walking to and from class, eat lunch on campus, tour a residence hall or attend a sporting event.  Touring a campus without students or faculty is not much help in narrowing college choices.
  • Don't be afraid to ask for in-depth tour of facilities such as the library, student union or even the student recreation center. Ask to speak with an admissions or financial aid professional. Meet with current students or representatives from an academic college or department if possible.
  • Come prepared to ask questions! A successful visit allows students to better understand the campus culture, community setting, resources and facilities.
