A New Hampshire native, Rob Peaslee joined Texas Tech in 2008 and serves as Associate Dean in the Honors College. He is also Associate Professor in the Department of Journalism & Creative Media Industries, where he teaches courses on screenwriting, film production, screen tourism, and media anthropology. Dr. Peaslee's research is focused on relationships between popular media (film, television, and comics/graphic novels), fandom studies, and place. He is the co-editor of several books on these topics, including Screen Tourism and Affective Landscapes: The Real, the Virtual, and the Cinematic (Routledge, 2023), The Supervillian Reader (University Press of Mississippi, 2020), and The Joker: A Serious Study of the Clown Prince of Crime (University Press of Mississippi, 2015). He has also published articles in a variety of journals, including the International Journal of Communication, Mass Communication & Society, Adaptation, Tourist Studies, Visual Communication Quarterly, and Transformative Works & Cultures, covering topics such as screen tourism, media festivals, spatial approaches to media power, and more. He earned his Ph.D. in Mass Communication from the University of Colorado, Boulder, his MA in English Literature from The Citadel (Charleston, SC), and his BA in Communication Arts from Colby-Sawyer College (New London, NH). He's the extremely fortunate partner to Kate (an Iowa Hawkeye), and an enormously proud dad to his son Coen and his daughters Hazel and Nora.
