Dr. Vijay Hegde was nominated for the College of Human Sciences Presidents Academic Achievement Award

2022-2023

Dr. Vijay Hegde was elected into the Teaching Academy. He is among the only 3 faculty members in Nutritional Sciences to be admitted to this distinguished organization.
Dr. Nik Dhurandhar received the prestigious Paul W. Horn Distinguished Professor award—the highest honor that the University can award to its faculty members.
Dr. Nik Dhurandhar received the George A. Bray Founders Award, which recognizes his significant contributions that has advanced the scientific or clinical basis for understanding or treating obesity and for extensive involvement with The Obesity Society.
Dr. Vijay Hegde was promoted to Associate Professor and granted tenure.
Dr. Vijay Hegde received Mortar Board Apple Polishing Award (2022).
Dr. Vijay Hegde was admitted to the TTU President's STEM Mentoring Academy.
Marleigh Hefner won 3rd place in the TTU Graduate Poster Competition with her poster titled, “Development of a Mouse Model to Study the Progression of Fatty Liver Disease to Hepatocellular Carcinoma.”
Tanner Taylor was awarded Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher and won 3rd place in the TTU URC poster competition out of ~120 presenters. His poster was titled, “Adipose Tissue-Specific Expression of E4orf1 Controlled by the rtTA Transcription Factor in a Genetically Engineered Mouse Model.”

Dr. Vijay Hegde won the 2022 TTU Outstanding Faculty Mentor Award (OFM)-Center for Transformative Undergraduate Experiences (TrUE).
Dr. Vijay Hegde received Mortar Board Apple Polishing Award (2021).
Dr's Nik Dhurandhar and Vijay Hegde, Nutritional Sciences Faculty. Awarded Grant for Innovative “Insparin” Drug Technology Research (2021). Our PI's have recently secured a significant outside investment for research on a therapeutic anti-diabetes drug.
