How do I purchase tickets?
Ticket purchases can be made at the box office at the east entrance of
the Maedgen Theatre building. Tickets may also be purchased over the
phone by calling 806-742-3603. Hours of operation are Noon – 5:30 pm
Monday – Saturday during the season.
Do I need to be a Theatre
major to participate in the productions?
Students from any department at Texas Tech University may participate in
the productions at the Department of Theatre and Dance; and those
working on a backstage crew may register for credit. Auditions are open
to all students, faculty and staff at the University.
Do freshmen get to perform
onstage?
Yes, anyone who is right for the role gets to perform onstage.
What type of degree can be
earned in Theatre?
Our department offers the Bachelor of Arts in Theatre and Dance,
Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre, Master of Arts in Theatre, Master of
Fine Arts in Theatre, and Doctor of Philosophy in Fine Arts with an
option in Theatre Arts.
What can I do once I
earn a Theatre degree?
Our theatre graduates have found successful careers working as
professional actors, directors, stage managers, and designers as well as
art directors, producers, and educators.
Can I use the lab or mainstage
theatre for class related rehearsals?
The theatre facilites are mainly used for production work. Department
classes may reserve the theatre spaces when they are not in use by
reserving the space through the department secretary and technical
director.
