B.F.A. in Theatre Arts
The Bachelor of Fine Arts degree is for those students who are seeking professional training who also wish to gain as much experience, as many skills, and as much produced work as possible.
The 130-hour B.F.A. in Theatre Arts degree program provides students the opportunity to combine a common base of knowledge and skills in Theatre Arts with the pursuit of concentrations in acting, design/technology, or musical theatre. Admittance is through an audition/portfolio review and interview process, and students are reviewed annually.

The BFA in Theatre Arts prepares students for a professional career in performance or theatre design in a variety of areas. Incoming classes are set at a limited number for each program to allow students as many opportunities to perform or in other facets of theatre such as design, administration, lighting and more!

Students will learn from professors with stage experience ranging from regional theatre to large Broadway performances. Our students have had success at regional TETA and national KCACTF competitions.

Admission to any of the BFA Theatre Arts programs requires both admission to Texas Tech and to your program of interest. BFA Theatre Arts students will have to submit pre-screen items (Acting, Musical Theatre) items or a portfolio (Design/Technology). To start the Theatre Application, please create an account on RaiderConnect. Once logged in, select APPLICATIONS, then the Talkington College of Visual & Performing Arts Application. Follow the application steps for your program of interest from there.

Online Learning
While some core courses can be completed online, the majority of Theatre Arts coursework is completed in person.
Higher Program Offering
Students pursuing the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Arts can continue on to a Master of Fine Arts in multiple Theatre Arts areas.
A minimum of 60 credit hours is required beyond the bachelor's degree. Students have the option to complete the written thesis or thesis project.
