Smaller Program
Smaller program that provides student mentorship by dance faculty
The dance program at Texas Tech University provides its students with a rigorous yet accessible curriculum, opportunities for engagement with dance in a variety of contexts, and a supportive, student-centered learning environment. By integrating the practical and the theoretical, the program serves as a vital force in the cultural and intellectual life of our society. The university is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Dance (NASD).
The Dance minor requires 24 credit hours and at least four or more long semesters to complete; students should audition and begin the minor as early as possible in their academic career.
Our dance minor allows students to continue their dance training while pursuing a different major. The minor requires students to take Dance Production Activities twice, which allows for two performance opportunities. Students are required to take at least one course from two technique genres (jazz, ballet, contemporary, and hip-hop) and are allowed to choose one additional technique class of their choice. Dance minors can choose to audition for any theatre and dance production.
