Texas Tech's First Hispanic President Authors Sweeping Life Story in 'A Kineño's Journey'

Lauro F. Cavazos (M.A. Zoology, TTU), former U.S. Secretary of Education and former President of Texas Tech University, has authored his autobiography: "A Kineño's Journey: On Family, Learning, and Public Service." The narrative follows Cavazos's life story, on the private side, from his birth and upbringing on Texas' famed King Ranch to his marriage to Peggy Ann Murdock and the education of their 10 children. On the public side, the book details Cavazos' faculty and administrative posts at the Medical College of Virginia and Tufts University School of Medicine before becoming President of Texas Tech University, then culminates with Cavazos' Cabinet appointment. Cavazos wrote the book with the help of Gene B. Preuss, Associate Professor of History and Special Assistant to the President at the University of Houston-Downtown.
