Fund For Excellence

The Climate Science Center's Fund For Excellence was created to help provide financial support to continue and improve our events and provide funding where needed. We would like to thank the anonymous donors who donated to our center in which we were able to begin this fund. This fund will be used to help improve and continue our monthly events. The CSC hosts monthly events (Climate Cinema or Science By The Glass and academic seminars) and community events throughout the year. Science By The Glass and Climate Cinema are informal discussions aimed to bring together members of the community together with TTU faculty and students to discuss topics related to science, climate, and society. The CSC academic seminars are held on the first Tuesday of each month where 3-4 panelists give a brief summary of their relevant work on a specific topic, such as water or endangered species, then participate in an interactive audience discussion.

Currently, we have a monthly movie series, Climate Cinema where the CSC hosts a movie night at the Alamo Theater that is climate related with a panel Q & A at the end of the movie. The CSC holds at least one community day a year where they invite 10-15 local organizations to hosts booths to inform the community on what they can do to become more sustainable. This fund will help the Climate Science Center continue and improve these events for the community.
