Supporting and Educating a School Aged Child with a Disability in West Texas

Program Overview
At the end of each month from August 2025 to April 2026, practitioners in Special Education from Guiding Hands—an outreach program connected with Odessa High School's Transition Learning Center (TLC)—developed, delivered, and archived nine (9) Professional Development (PD) sessions to help support and educate a school aged child with a disability in West Texas.
These sessions have been designed so that anyone can participate in and/or replicate these PD sessions for your: own personal education, parent advocacy group(s), teaching organizations, professional learning communities (PLCs), etc. We invite and encourage you to use these materials, made by educators for the community, with the stakeholders in your professional contexts to better support the education of students with disabilities in Texas.
Materials from each session include: the presentation slide decks (one in English and one in Spanish), a pamphlet styled handout (in English and Spanish), and archived bilingual video/s.
