International applicants that do not have an exemption may use Duolingo or TOEFL
at Home to assess English proficiency.
You will need to establish communication with at least one faculty member and attempt
to secure an advisor before the Admissions Committee reviews your application. You
should list your potential advisor(s) on your application.
We have an Admissions Committee that reviews applications, makes the final decision
on admission, and also makes the recommendation for students to take leveling courses.
The Admissions Committee also ranks the applications and makes a recommendation for
the Research Assistantship. Students application packets are reviewed holistically.
Stipends are competitive and limited.
Research areas include: Aquatic Toxicology, Ecotoxicology, Human Health Sciences,
Environmental Chemistry, Biochemical and Molecular Toxicology, Infectious Disease
Research, Wildlife Toxicology, Fibers, Protective Textiles and Countermeasures to
Chemical Toxins among others. ****Our department is not on the main TTU campus; it is about 20 minutes away from
it. There is no public transportation but help among fellow students can be requested
until you are able to provide your own transportation. Our department is located at
1207 S. Gilbert Dr., Lubbock, TX 79416.****
