My name is Leslie Kacal, and I am the Director of the Texas Tech University Center for Early Head Start. I earned my B.S. in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University and am currently pursuing an M.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies. My career in education began in 1999, and since then, I have had the privilege of working directly with young children, ranging from 6 weeks to school age.

Working with children has always been a source of immense joy for me. I am deeply inspired by the opportunity to watch children develop new skills and grow in confidence, both in their abilities and in their understanding of the world around them.

I firmly believe that the relationships children build with their caregivers form the foundation for a lifetime of learning. High-quality care is essential to a child's development, and I am passionate about supporting and mentoring teachers to ensure they have the skills to provide the care, support, and education that children and their families need.

This program is incredibly meaningful to me. I am committed to ensuring that every child receives the care and education they deserve. When families, teachers, and staff work together, we give children the best opportunity to grow, thrive, and succeed.
