Research Focus: Sorghum genomics and breeding, emphasizing metabolome-wide genome-wide
association studies (mGWAS), quantitative trait loci (QTL) mapping, and multi-omics
integration to identify genes and pathways controlling grain nutritional traits and
accelerate the development of nutrient-enriched sorghum cultivars.

Shejal Soumen
Research Focus: Sorghum genetics and molecular breeding, focusing on the development
of nutritionally enhanced forage sorghum through marker-assisted breeding, grain quality
phenotyping, and multi-omics integration. My research investigates the genetic and
molecular basis of starch protein interactions, seed development, digestibility, and
grain nutritional quality to accelerate the development of climate-resilient, high-quality
sorghum cultivars.
