The Texas Society of Mammalogists Held Their 37th Annual Meeting

The Texas Society of Mammalogists held its 37th annual meeting at the TTU Center at Junction during 8-10 February 2019. The meeting was attended by 128 faculty members, graduate and undergraduate students, and other mammalogy professionals from 37 institutions and 9 states. Nineteen students presented oral papers of their research, and 26 students gave poster presentations. Eight awards were presented for the best student presentations in various categories. The guest speaker for the Saturday evening banquet was Dr. David J. Schmidly, former President and Professor Emeritus of Texas Tech University and the University of New Mexico. His talk was entitled “Helping Conserve Texas' Wildlife Diversity: Challenges for the 21st Century”. The Texas Society of Mammalogists appreciates and values its long relationship with the TTU Center at Junction and looks forward to many more years of successful and enjoyable meetings at the Center.
