Columbia and How NASA Worked To Prevent Future Disasters
George Studor gives an account of his involvement in the investigation regarding the Space Shuttle Columbia. Included in the discussion will be a description of the sensors – which he developed for previous missions – and how they were refined to be used on all subsequent space shuttle voyages.
George Studor retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1999 with the rank of Major, and 20 years of experience as C130 pilot and astronautical engineer. Studor continued as a consultant for the NASA Engineering and Safety Center (NESC) in the technology areas of wireless avionics, in-space inspection, robotic spaceflight and systems engineering through January 2021.
