Why Don't They Do Something About the Traffic?

The answer is very complex, and it starts with who “they” are. Providing transportation in cities and towns in the U.S. involves intricate coordination of activities by multiple levels of public agencies, property owners, residents and special interest groups to plan, design, fund, and implement projects. This class will describe the complicated process by which projects get identified and how funding decisions are made.

William R. Loudon, Ph.D., P.E., is a senior transportation consultant with Alliance Transportation Group in Austin. He has a bachelor's in civil engineering from Southern Methodist University, a master's in city planning from Harvard, and a doctorate in transportation systems analysis from MIT.
