Dr. David Lektzian is Associate Professor and Director of Global Studies for the Department of Political Science at Texas Tech University. He is also the Director of the Peace Corps Prep Program. Dr. Lektzian received his BA from Central Michigan University, MA from Michigan State University, and PhD from Michigan State University. Before joining Texas Tech University in 2007, Dr. Lektzian was a researcher at the International Peace Research Institute in Oslo, Norway from 2003-2004, and Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of New Orleans from 2004 to 2007. From July 2017 through July of 2018, he served as a Council on Foreign Relations Fellow and Analyst in the Foreign Affairs, Defense and Trade Division of the Congressional Research Service. From December of 2013 to July of 2014 Dr. Lektzian was a visiting professor at the University of Vilnius, in Lithuania, as part of the Fulbright Scholars Program. In 2018, Dr. Lektzian was acknowledged by Texas Tech University for providing internationally recognized excellence in research, scholarship, and creative activity. His articles have appeared in a range of journals including the American Journal of Political Science, International Organization, International Studies Quarterly, the Journal of Conflict Resolution, the Journal of Peace Research, Conflict Management and Peace Science, and International Area Studies Review. Dr. Lektzian conducts research on the origin and outcome of economic and military conflict, and teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in international relations and quantitative research methods.
