Congress did not pass FY26 appropriations, and the federal government shut down on
Oct. 1, 2025. Federal agencies are operating under their contingency plans, which
dictate program-by-program operations and may affect some research activities and
processing timelines.

Many federal sponsors, including NSF, NIH, USDA and DOE, now require research-security
training. If you are preparing, submitting or working on any federally funded project,
you must complete the Research Security course through CITI.
