How will I get matched with my faculty mentor?
Unless you are a graduating senior, faculty-mentor matching occurs after the first-year of being an LSAMP scholar. The first year of being a scholar prepares you to work under a professor in a research lab.
- Students will receive a list of previous faculty mentors and asked to meet with potential mentors related to research interests.
- After meetings, students will compile a top 3 list and send it to the LSAMP Leadership.
- LSAMP leaders will match scholars with faculty mentors and notify scholars of placements.
Scholars will also be matched with veteran LSAMP Scholars for peer mentoring in the research experience. Scholars will fill out an information sheet and be matched with peer mentors based on research interests, majors, and other factors.
Note: Graduating seniors will email LSAMP leadership upon appointment of being a scholar for a separate matching interview.
How will I get matched with my peer mentor?
Scholars will also be matched with veteran LSAMP Scholars for peer mentoring in the research experience. Scholars will fill out an information sheet and be matched with peer mentors based on research interests, majors, and other factors.
