As a Lead Technician for the Operations Division, Gabriel Guzman has worked hundreds of overtime hours to complete top quality projects on time to keep the plant operational for customers. Some of these projects include: running power supply to the west cooling towers and installing lights for a safer working area in the west cooling tower trench. He saved approximately $5,500 in contract labor charges by installing a new expansion tank along with control programming to maintain accurate water levels. With his relentless troubleshooting skills, he was able to identify the root cause for the #2 chiller intermittent shutdown, and rectified the problem. This saved the University another estimated $5,000 in contract labor charges. Most recently he was part of the instrumentation team on the #3 chiller replacement project. He logged over 100 hours of overtime to complete this project. Gabriel's commitment to Texas Tech is obvious through his continued dedication to these projects.
