Elizabeth Massengale
Managing Director
Parent & Family Relations & the Office of the Dean of Students

Throughout Elizabeth Massengale's career at Texas Tech, she has distinguished herself as a strong leader. The department she currently leads, celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, has grown in scope since she began as its director in 2008. Notable program additions that have been established during her tenure include Holiday Bus Trips home for Texas Tech Students, the Sibling Saturday program for students to have the opportunity to show their younger siblings what life at Texas Tech is like, the creation of the Raider Relief Fund to assist students during financial crisis, and the publication of all parent/family printed communications in Spanish to ensure the Spanish-speaking families of Texas Tech student receive the information they need to help support their students' success at Texas Tech. Within Elizabeth's additional responsibilities in the Office of the Dean of Students, she has supported undergraduate and graduate students who experience stress and crisis. In her capacity overseeing the Raider Relief Fund, Elizabeth has extensive experience in working with students in financial crisis. She became aware that students often face several issues that go beyond the purview of the Raider Relief fund, including temporary strains such as hurricanes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters that affect both domestic and international students' abilities to remain at Texas Tech University. Elizabeth used her experience to help establish a Student Basic Needs Committee to address these issues for students, including tuition costs, textbooks, rent, utilities, and food insecurity. She worked to pull a group together from across campus, who are well-suited to leverage resources to assist students in meeting their individual needs to help them persist at Texas Tech. It is clear that Elizabeth is impacting student success.
