Gurkan is a skilled programmer who works diligently to find solutions to issues that are encountered. He works through all challenges presented, big or small, with patience and a kind attitude. During his time at Texas Tech, Gurkan has written tens of thousands of lines of code that make many of the applications across campus run smoothly. Gurkan developed the Remote Work Agreement application which automated the remote work request process. Through this application, employees can apply for remote work, access submitted forms, make modifications, and request extensions. Employees and supervisors are now able to track progress throughout the entire process. Gurkan also developed the President's Leadership Institute application which is for faculty and staff who want to define their leadership styles, develop their management tools, increase their understanding of higher education administration operations, and expand their knowledge of Texas Tech. This project included many additional add-ons to facilitate not only the selection process but also processes that assist the event throughout the year. With Gurkan's phenomenal skills, he has created many applications that have had, and will continue to have, lasting impacts across Texas Tech University.
