Distinguished Staff Awards 2023: Jenna Seale Nutritional SciencesJenna Seale
Business Manager
Nutritional Sciences

Jenna is an exceptional employee and an outstanding asset to Texas Tech. She became the Business Manager in the Department Nutritional Sciences in the Fall of 2014 when the department was separated from Nutrition, Hospitality and Retail Management Department within the College of Human Sciences. In the past 9 years, Nutritional Sciences has grown substantially in many ways and Jenna's contributions have been significant to this growth. When Jenna joined Nutritional Sciences, she quickly learned Texas Tech regulations, requirements, operating procedures and software platforms. Her pace has not slowed and her mastery and expertise in these aspects is utilized by the college, as she is often asked to train other incoming business managers. During Jenna's tenure, Nutritional Sciences has grown from 600 undergraduate students, 50 graduate students and extramural funding of approximately $200,000 to having more than 150 graduate students, and an extramural research portfolio of about $11 million. Also during this time, Nutritional Sciences started a new online master's degree program, increased Student Credit Hours, and established the Nutrition and Metabolic Health Initiative, which is a state of the art clinical research facility. This exponential growth and activity demanded that Jenna perform at an increasingly higher level of efficiency and productivity. She not only met, but exceeded these challenges with hard work, diligence, resourcefulness, thoughtful creativity, and a very calm and collected demeanor. We believe that Jenna is key to the continued success of the department.
