Kevin was raised in Plano, Texas, but he (along with his wonderful fiancé Nina) have called Lubbock home since August 2014. He graduated with his Master of Arts in Creative Nonfiction from Texas Tech University in 2016. His time in graduate school instilled in him a love of education, and he's since taught students in kindergarten, middle school, college, and everything in between. He taught First Year Writing at Texas Tech for 5 years before becoming a Senior Academic Advisor for Pre-Professional Health Careers, where he feels privileged to help the next generation of doctors and nurses achieve their academic goals.
Kevin is a gamer at heart, and he'll gladly geek out about the latest RPG with you. His hero will always be the brilliant Brandon Sanderson. Bridge Four.

 

Dakota Chisum

Dakota is a West Texas native from Jayton, Texas and has been a longtime member of the Red Raider family. In 2019, Dakota graduated with his Master of Arts in English-Creative Writing from Texas Tech University, where he also received his Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics in 2017. He has always pursued roles in education, with his ultimate goal throughout undergrad to become a high school teacher. However, teaching First Year Writing during his graduate program at Texas Tech helped him realize that he wanted to continue working with college students as they navigate their undergraduate journey. As a member of the PPHC team, Dakota continues to promote student success and assist students in achieving their academic and career goals. In his free time, Dakota continues to pursue his writing and enjoys attending musicals, concerts, and public readings with his wife.

Amy Perez Kranz

Amy Perez Kranz, M.A.

Amy has over a decade of experience working at the university as well as secondary school level. A native of Lubbock, Amy chose to pursue her studies in other areas of the country, earning her Bachelor of Science degree in Management at Tulane University. Upon graduation, Amy moved to Boston where she worked at various universities and obtained her Master of Arts degree in Higher Education Administration at Boston College.

Having served as a former Director of Admission at a private school in the Boston area, Amy truly enjoys getting to know people from all walks of life and counseling them toward a successful future. Most recently, she worked as an Events and Logistics Manager in the Los Angeles area, managing hundreds of events for a private school. Amy likes to work with students who are inquisitive and who enjoy the self-discovery process. In her free time, Amy enjoys attending concerts, art exhibits, and traveling with her husband. She will also never turn down the opportunity to eat Mexican food!

 

Rachel Poole

Rachel was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas, and has a proud family tradition here at Texas Tech University. In 2015, she graduated from Tech's School of Art with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and then went on to teach Art at Lubbock High School. She is a strong supporter of education and promoting creative and critical thinking to help develop learners into active and meaningful members of their communities. Rachel joined the team at PPHC following her passion for supporting students as they pursue success in all of their goals. She spends her spare time reading, playing tennis, and creating works of art.

 

 

 

Andrew Vanderpool

Andrew was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas, and has a 4-generation family tradition here at Texas Tech. In 2008, he graduated from the College of Human Sciences with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies. He will be graduating with a Master of Science in Healthcare Administration in December of 2020. Andrew has been working at Texas Tech since 2010 in Academic Advising and has been with PPHC as a Senior Advisor since 2017.

Karin Huie

Karin was born in Rochester, New York, then moved to Ontario, Canada, where she began her career in healthcare, working as a medical office manager for 29 years. She also served as President of the Medical Secretaries Association for many of those years before returning to the U.S., when she moved to Lubbock in 2006. Before joining the PPHC team, Karin has had experience with local Lubbock physicians, as a Lead Counselor in Medical Research, and then at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center with Rural and Community Health.

Ryan Scheckel, M.A.

Ryan has been in academic advising since 2002, working with students from the exploratory to the declared, first generation to legacy, and from fine arts to pre-professional health. He also serves in leadership roles at both the state and [inter]national levels and his professional interests include advising history, theory and philosophy; leadership theory; and the intersections between advising and higher education's larger purpose. A graduate of Texas Tech, Ryan's academic background includes studies in Human Development, Public Administration, Leadership, and Higher Education Administration. He is also a HUGE Star Wars nerd!

Cathe Nutter

Cathe Nutter, Ph.D

Catherine Nutter, BA, MA,PhD, is originally from Abilene, Texas. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Texas A&M University and her Master of Arts in English from Sam Houston State University. She completed a PhD in Higher Education Administration at Texas Tech. Everyday, she is a Red Raider.

Cathe's advising philosophy is simple: Create a ripple; guide its growth; champion the wave. It is by making little changes that we impact ourselves, then society, then the world. The statement also reflects her leadership philosophy.

Cathe spends as much time as possible with her family and enjoys reading, cooking, and most outdoor activities.
