Ginger Kerrick (B.S. Physics 1991; M.S. Physics 1993), a NASA flight director, gave the keynote speech to a roomful of prospective Arts & Sciences students and families at the Raider Roadshow in San Antonio. During the recruiting event, Arts & Sciences Associate Dean Stefanie Borst (above left) joined Kerrick (above right) for "guns up."

Our First-Ever Tailgate

Food, fun and friendship drew more than 250 armchair quarterbacks to the tents of the College of Arts & Sciences very first tailgate. Members of the newly formed Dean's Circle advisory board were on hand for the Sept. 26 event, centered around the hard-fought game against TCU. The College's Development staff, Dean's staff, Associate Deans and Student Ambassadors welcomed guests to a buffet of Tex-Mex favorites catered by Ruby Tequila's.

TTU's College of Arts & Sciences unveiled its Dean's Circle Recognition Walls in Holden Hall Sept. 25. Before the curtains dropped to reveal photos of the Dean's Circle advisory board members, TTU President M. Duane Nellis said, "I continue to be so impressed by the quality of our alumni base. These people who are part of this inaugural Dean's Circle are truly a group of very distinguished alumni who have proven themselves as real leaders in the various ways in which they have had success in their careers, post-Texas Tech University, and we are so proud of them. Their achievements serve as an inspiration to all of us and particularly to our students." W. Brent Lindquist, Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences, saw the need for an advisory board during the fall of 2014, not long after stepping into the position in July that year. By April 2015, the Dean's Circle was launched when Lindquist brought the 16 inaugural members together for their first meeting.

Giammanco Evaluates Hail Storms

Ian GiammocoIan Giammanco, a College of Arts & Sciences alumnus who earned his master's in atmospheric science in the Department of Geosciences and his PhD in wind science/engineering, was in Lubbock (May 2015) to evaluate hail storms on behalf of the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety's (IBHS) 2015 Hail Field Study. He was part of a research team here to learn more about hail's characteristics so insurers, homeowners and builders can better guard against hail damage.

Dominguez Wins Teaching Award

Diana Dominguez

Diana Dominguez, a College of Arts & Sciences alumna who earned her PhD in Medieval Irish literature with a feminist and gender studies focus from the Department of English, recently received The University of Texas System Regents' Outstanding Teaching Award for 2014. Dominguez in now Associate Professor of English at the University of Texas at Brownsville.

Kerrick Joins Rawls Faculty

Ginger KerrickGinger Kerrick joined the faculty of Rawls College of Business (Spring 2015), but she always will be one of Arts & Sciences' own. Kerrick earned both her bachelor's degree in physics (1991) and her master's degree in physics (1993) from TTU's College of Arts & Sciences in the Department of Physics. From these beginnings, she went on to become the first female, Hispanic flight director for NASA. Among Kerrick's recognitions are the NASA Special Achievement Award and the Texas Tech Distinguished Alumni Award. She teaches in the newly launched STEM MBA program and spoke recently at the Women's Leadership Institute luncheon.

Houston Alumni Give Scholarship

The 2015 Houston Alumni Reception, held at the Houston Racquet Club (April 2015), brought members of the host committee together for a worthy cause: Bestowing a $1,000 scholarship on TTU Geosciences student Katrina Soundy.
