Yehia Mechref Named TTU Welch Chair

TTU professor YehiaMechref

Dr. Yehia Mechref has been named the Robert A. Welch Chair in Chemistry at Texas Tech University. This prestigious appointment will provide resources for Mechref to continue to be an innovator in analytical chemistry.

Mechref is a nationally and internationally recognized scientific leader in the development of biomolecular mass spectrometry methods that lead to the discovery of roles of proteins, glycoproteins, and glycans in biological systems. He pioneered a liquid chromatography-mass spectrometer (LC-MS) system to analyze glycomic samples in conventional proteomic laboratories, eliminating the need for more specialized facilities and making glycomic analysis more accessible to the broader scientific community.
