Catalina Popescu obtained her PhD from the University of Texas at Austin in Classics and taught before at Texas Tech University as a Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics (2013-2015). She publishes frequently with the University of Bucharest, her alma mater, where she held a mini-course on Greek brides and a workshop on Apuleius. Catalina Popescu is interested in the function of memory in literature and received a fellowship offered by Eugen Lozovan Foundation for the summer of 2021 and an SCS Contingent Faculty Grant in 2022 to research the somatic implications of cultural memory in Ovid's Metamorphoses. One of her most recent publications on Ovid is "Overflowing Bodies and A Pandora of Ivory: The Pure Humors of An Errotic Surrrogate," in Bodily Fluids, Routledge, 2021.
