The Office of Prestigious External Student Scholarships strives to cultivate intellectual and personal growth experiences for exceptional Texas Tech University students applying for nationally competitive external awards. We focus heavily on the recruitment, application, and endorsement process while guiding students as they navigate their intellectual interests and discern their future academic and career aspirations. In collaboration with Texas Tech faculty and staff, we work with qualified students to enhance their writing and interviewing skills in order to produce the most competitive award applications possible. Critical Language Scholarships-Chinese

Mandarin Chinese is the most widely spoken first language in the world, boasting almost 900 million native speakers and over a billion speakers in total! Dating back thousands of years, the Chinese language reflects a rich history of cultural traditions and encompasses a myriad of people, places, and perspectives. The Chinese language itself is various, featuring many mutually unintelligible regional dialects and variations, although Mandarin has been adopted as a de facto standard.

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship (Gilman) Program provides merit-based scholarships to outstanding American undergraduate students with high financial need, equipping them with the international experience, global networks, and foreign language skills essential to keep the United States safe, strong, and prosperous.  Since its inception in 2001, the Gilman Program has supported 44,000 American students to study or intern abroad in over 170 countries.  Gilman alumni represent all 50 states, D.C., Puerto Rico, and all U.S. territories.
