Mir Arif Assistant Professor of Practice - First-Year Writing, Creative Writing, Literature

A Granta Writers' Workshop alumnus, Mir Arif's fiction and nonfiction have appeared in Story, Tahoma Literary Review, The Los Angeles Review, Sierra Nevada Review, Fatal Flaw Literary Magazine, SUSPECT, The Bangalore Review, Arts & Letters, and Himal Southasian. His short stories have been longlisted for the 2019 Commonwealth Short Story Prize and the 2025 Indiana Review Fiction Prize and named a semifinalist for the 2025 American Short(er) Fiction Prize. He has an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV) and a BA in International Relations from the University of Dhaka. He was the nonfiction editor at Witness and worked as a copyeditor for The Believer. He is working on his first novel.
