Diane Johnson Assistant Director; Undergraduate Advisor - Department of English

Originally from Utica, Kansas, Diane began her academic journey as a first-generation college student at South Plains College, where she earned her Associate's Degree and transferred to Texas Tech, where she earned her BBA in Management in 2020 and completed her MBA in 2023. She is pursuing a graduate certificate in Student Development and Academic Advisement, all while working full-time at TTU. Diane holds certifications in Mental Health First Aid and CPR, demonstrating her commitment to supporting students both academically and emotionally.

Diane started working for Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in 2009 and transferred to the main campus in 2012, where she worked in Student Business Services. In 2021, she accepted a position in the Departments of English and Philosophy and became an Assistant Director and Academic Advisor. Diane discovered her true passion for academic advising, driven by her own mixed experiences with advisors as a student. She guides Red Raiders from day-one registration to graduation. Her office is a trusted space where students regularly share academic wins and personal life milestones, often thanking her for being vital to their success. Diane's energetic motivation and tireless work ethic do not just help students build schedules; they help them build futures.

Outside of work, Diane enjoys life with Ocie, her husband of 35 years. They live south of Lubbock in the small community of Woodrow with three dogs and a lively backyard farm. They share 5 children, 14 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren.
