Damilola Oyedeji PhD Student - Creative Writing

Damilola Oyedeji is a Nigerian poet, essayist, and literary critic. She is the author of Blue Scapes, a chapbook published by Thirty West Publishing House, PA. As a Ph.D. student in creative writing with a focus in poetry, her work explores intersectional feminist and trauma discourses in African and African diasporic literature and culture. She emerged as a runner-up of the 2026 Annual Bridgette Poetry Competition for African writers. A Best of the Net nominee, the recipient of the 2026 William Walker Excellence in Critical Writing Award, as well as the 2025 Robert Henigan Critical Essay Award, her works have appeared in Orange Blossom Review, The Shallow Tales Review, Brittle Paper, The Nigeria Review, Prairie Home Magazine, Talon Review, Belfast Review, Poetry Journal, the Spring Writing Fellowship 2023 Anthology, and elsewhere. A past fellow of the Spring Writing Fellowship herself, Damilola mentors emerging writers in creative nonfiction through the Spring Writing Fellowship and reads poetry for the Iron Horse Literary Review.
