Book History Club Join the Book History Club!
Any students, staff, or faculty interested in the history of books, book making, letterpress printing, publishing, book selling, authorship, collecting, and reading are welcome to participate in the Book History Club.
The Tech Book History Club exists to provide a space for interested members to explore the interdisciplinary field of Book History. The Club welcomes anyone at Texas Tech who is interested in learning about book history and the written text in material forms including writing on parchment and printed books, as well as digital collections and media. Members who chose to participate in the regular events will have the chance to learn first-hand about how paper and books are made, what marbling is, and what is involved in typesetting and printing a text. Events will also consider book collecting and writing instruments (is writing with a quill as easy as it looks?), as well as involve trips to Special Collections to examine the Universitys old and rare books collection.
