In-Between Lab From Adolescence to Adulthood

The In-Between Lab explores what it means to become an adult in a complex and changing world. We study how identity, culture, family, and other opportunities and constraints shape the many pathways young people take through the transition from adolescence to adulthood. We're recruiting our first cohort of undergraduate researchers for Fall 2026!

The BIG question: How do social, cultural, and economic contexts shape diverse pathways through the transition to adulthood, particularly among populations typically underrepresented in developmental science? Research topics include:

• Contexts of resilience
• Economic experiences and development
• Cross-cultural perspectives
• Varying pathways to adulthood
• Measurement and theory of adulthood

 

Our goal is to build a fuller, more equitable understanding of this period of life in order to improve and enhance the human condition.
