Adaptable Measurement Assets
Adaptable Measurement Assets allows NWI researchers to gather data to gain an understanding of wind speeds and turbulence in hurricanes, tornadoes, and other extreme wind events within the boundary layer. Studying severe weather and tornadoes can be tricky as these weather events are often “small” enough to just fit between permanent weather observation stations. This means they can “slip through the net” data-wise. The Adaptable Measurement Assets can be set up in the path of the wind hazard allowing other equipment and personnel to stay a safe distance away.
