Exploding the Western

In Exploding the Western: Myths of Empire on the Postmodern Frontier (Texas A&M University Press, 2005), Spurgeon focuses on three writers whose woks not only exemplify the kinds of engagement with the theme of the frontier that contemporary authors make, but also show the range of cultural voices that are shaping how we think about our history: Cormac McCarthy, Leslie Marmon Silko, and Ana Castillo.
