Big XII Faculty Fellowships 2025-26
Purpose
To foster scholarly projects and programs by providing opportunities for on-site collaborations among faculty at the universities comprising the Big XII Athletic Conference.
Duration
Up to two weeks at the host university.
Funding
Up to $2,500 to reimburse actual expenses based on a prior approved budget for travel, lodging and per diem commensurate with State of Texas rates at the host location. Standard procedures for official travel and expense reimbursement must be completed in a timely manner (OP 79.01).
Application
Faculty interested in participating in the Big XII Faculty Fellowship program should complete the online application form. Applicants will be asked to provide basic information and submit supporting materials, including a project description and rationale of up to 750 words, an expense budget, a letter of welcome and agreement from the host institution and required approval information.

Applications should be submitted through the online application form at least 30 days prior to the applicant's proposed travel dates.
Applications will be reviewed by a committee, with decisions to follow in a reasonable timeframe.
Travel must occur within a fall or spring semester, prior to final exam week. Within one month of return from the fellowship travel, the faculty member is to file a report of what was accomplished and what comes next with the project.
An individual faculty member is limited to one Big XII Faculty Fellowship in an academic year.
To host colleagues from other Big XII institutions at Texas Tech:
- Individuals from other institutions must apply for participation through their home institutions. Expenses are to be covered by the home institution.
- Submit to the Office of the Provost a copy of the individual's project plan as submitted to their home institution.
- Texas Tech host departments are responsible for advising the visiting Fellow concerning temporary housing and for making arrangements concerning office space, research facilities, IT and communications, parking, library access and related resources.
