In text Citations
- You must include in text citations for all intellectual property that you summarize (even if you are not referencing a direct quote).
- Please refer to the attached chart for examples of in text citations.
- Pay close attention to all grammar and punctuation involved in both in-text citations and final references.

Citations for Direct Quotations
In all cases, citations should include the author's last name, publication year, and page number of the quoted material.
Format: (Author(s) last name, publication year, page number)
Example: (Smith, 2014, p. 200).
Examples in context:
- According to Palladino and Wade (2010), "a flexible mind is a healthy mind" (p. 147).
- In 2010, Palladino and wade noted that "a flexible mind is a healthy mind" (p.147).
- In fact, "a flexible mind is a healthy mind" (Palladino & Wade, 2010, p. 147).
- "A flexible mind is a healthy mind," according to Palladino and Wade's (2010, p.147) longitudinal study.
- Palladino and Wade's (2010) results indicate that "a flexible mind is a healthy mind" (p. 147).
Paper References
- You must provide a full reference for the article that you are writing your research paper on! Failure to do so will result in required revisions and/or loss of credit.
- Additionally, anytime that you use a parenthetical citation, the citation must refer to a full reference at the end of the paper.
- Pay close attention to the case, font, and punctuation in these examples!

Author Last Name, Author First Initial. (Publication Year). Title of the article in sentence case.Title of Journal in Title Case, volume number, page-page.
