FAQ

Children's Waiting Area  Clinic Waiting Room. Small Therapy Room

  1. Do you serve non-Texas Tech affiliated clients?
We do! We serve anyone ages 4+ who are physically located in the state of Texas at the time of service. (Note: The majority of our clients are seen in-person only, though we do offer telehealth if appropriate. Residents from New Mexico or other states can be clients, though must be physically located in Texas at the time of service.)
  2. Can you prescribe medications?
No, we only provide therapy and assessment services. We can provide you some resources to find a medication provider upon request.
  3. How do I start seeing a therapist here; what is the process?
The first step is to give us a call at 806.742.3737 and we will ask a few questions to see if we could be a good fit for you.
    1. If we COULD BE a good fit we will schedule you for a more thorough interview (~20-30 min) to gather information
to match you to a therapist.
      1. If we determine we CAN meet your needs you will be placed on our waitlist and contacted when you are
assigned a therapist. Wait times vary depending on services needed.
      2. Your first session will cost $25. You will bring documentation of your income to this session so we can determine your regular session fee using our sliding scale ($10-$50/session). See our webpage for more information about service pricing.
    2. If we ARE NOT a good fit we will provide you with referrals to more appropriate resources/agencies.

We created a chart to explain the process! View The Process Chart [JPG, 143KB]

4. What are your current wait times?
For therapy, generally up to 3 months (it depends on the services needed). For assessment, generally up to 6 months (it depends on the type of assessment needed).

5. Do you take insurance? If not, what are your fees?
We do not. Therapy services are $10-50 per session (determined by proof of household income), after the initial $25 intake fee. Assessment services begin at $450 and increase depending on the type of assessment. A fee reduction on therapy services can be requested though is not guaranteed.

6. Do you have any session limits?
We do not have session limits. However, you must be seen on a regular basis (as determined by your treatment provider) to remain a client.

7. I think I am suicidal… Can you help me?
If you are in immediate crisis, dial 911 or 988 or visit your local emergency room for assistance. If you are in Lubbock, you also can walk into StarCare at 1950 Aspen Ave. or call them at 800.687.7581. If you are a Texas Tech student, you can call 806.742.5555. As we are a training client, we do not offer crisis/emergency services. To determine if we can provide you the service you need, please give us a call.

8. Are you the Employee Assistance Program (EAP)?
No. You’ll need to contact them at 806.743.1327 or visit their website.

9. Are you the TTU Student Counseling Center (SCC)?
