Lizzie Hoelscher received the Graduate Student Research Support Award from Texas Tech

Lizzie Hoelscher, a clinical psychology student in the Tracking Risk over Time Lab, received Texas Techs Graduate Research Support Award. For her project, Lizzie is investigating Inpatient mental health care experiences among transgender and nonbinary individuals and the potential iatrogenic effects of hospitalization on future disclosure of suicidal thoughts and behaviors.

Dean Dupras appointed Dr. Keith Jones as Permanent Chair of the Department of Psychological Sciences

Dean Tosha Dupras announced the appointment of Dr. Keith Jones as chair of the Department of Psychological Sciences. In the announcement, Dean Dupras said, “The role a chair plays in a departments success is critical, and I am confident that Dr. Jones will serve his colleagues well.” Dr. Jones appointment will begin immediately and is for a three-year term.

Dr. Jonathan Singer Received a Grant from the Washington State Department of Health

Dr. Singer (MPI) and Dr. Loggers (MPI) received a $100,000 grant from the Department of Health in Washington State to investigate barriers to engagement in death with dignity (DWD). Further, we will aim to understand the end of life experience (EOL) of terminally ill Washington residents, from the perspective of multiple stakeholders, determine barriers to DWD access for Washington State residents with terminal illness, and identify methods to improve the quality of the EOL experience for both terminally ill patients and their loved ones, including DWD. Lastly, we aim to develop and file a report to the Washington State Legislature.
